Initial drawings from my current ongoing project based around the theme of journeys. My inspiration began with the literary classic 'Around the World in 80 Days' by Jules Verne. Published in 1873, I was keen to follow the 'journey' across Italy, Egypt, India, Japan and America of character Phileas Fogg, but analysing the patterns and designs of each country.
I used my favoured drawing style of simple line, using pens with varying line thicknesses to create contrast.
I initially began experimenting with geometric elements by interpreting traditional Egyptian designs.
A more free flowing interpretation.
